SLAKAH THE BEATCHILD EARNS SIRIUS INDIE NOD
Date:
In anticipation of the fast-approaching festival, Canadian Music Week has announced its nominees for the 2015 SiriusXM Indies, the 15th Annual Independent Music Awards celebrating burgeoning indie talent around the globe.
Toronto-based Reservoir producer/songwriter/performer Byram “Slakah The Beatchild” Joseph scooped up a nomination for Soul/R&B Artist of the Year, the nod that places the multi-talented musician among such internationally-celebrated indie acts as Hozier, St. Vincent, FKA Twigs, Future Islands, Spoon, and even Jason Aldean. Interestingly, Slakah’s nomination puts him at odds with recent collaborator Melanie Durrant, as the fellow Torontonian is also up for the Soul/R&B Artist of the Year prize.
The 2015 SiriusXM Indies will culminate in a ceremony to be held in the Toronto Sheraton Centre’s Grand Ballroom on Saturday, May 9th. Performers at the show include The Glorious Sons, Alvvways, and headliner Billy Talent. Fans and industry experts can vote for their favorite candidates here.
