Reservoir may track IP addresses to keep track of a user’s session, while the user’s personal information remains totally anonymous. Tracking IP addresses can give us important information about our visitors. For example, we can learn which parts of the Site users are visiting and how long they stay. When Reservoir receives information about you or about your session, we may use it for research or to improve the Site and the services we offer you.
While you are using this Site, Reservoir may collect certain non-personally identifiable information about you, such as the URL you just came from, the next URL you go to, what browser you are using, the domain name of your Internet Service Provider and your IP address. We also use “cookies”, which are text files that websites transfer to the browser directory of your computer’s hard drive. A cookie is a small piece of information that a website can store on your web browser and later retrieve. The cookie cannot be read by any website other than the one that set up the cookies. Aggregate, but not individual, cookie and tracking information may be retained, used and shared with third parties to help Reservoir understand the demographics of traffic to our Site.
When you use the Comments section on our Site, the name and email address, as well as the IP address, are loaded in to the Reservoir database. We ask on our site and we urge everyone (adults and children) using the Comments section to input only their first name. Email addresses do not appear on the Site.
Reservoir takes reasonable steps to protect Personal Information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. Although Reservoir cannot guarantee that Personal Information will not be subject to unauthorized access, Reservoir has appropriate safeguards to protect the Personal Information. Personal Information is protected by secured networks and access is limited to a few authorized employees and personnel of Reservoir and its affiliates.
Reservoir also reserves the right to disclose and/or transfer personal information to a third party in the event of a proposed or actual purchase, sale (including a liquidation, realization, foreclosure or repossession), lease, merger, amalgamation or any other type of acquisition, disposal, transfer, conveyance or financing of all or any portion of Reservoir or of any of the business or assets or shares of Reservoir or a division thereof.
Reservoir retains your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose(s) for which it was collected, and as otherwise required to comply with applicable laws. When that need has ended, your personal information will be removed from our system and destroyed in a manner that ensures your security.
