Internship Openings:

Position: Copyright Internship

Term: Spring 2022

Location: Remote/Tribeca, New York, NY

Placement Overview: The Copyright internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry. Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship. The position will begin remotely until current restrictions are lifted and then transition to working in our NYC office.

Copyright Internship Rotation: Copyright interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Researching songs, composers, and publishers in PRO/CMO databases
  • Assisting in onboarding new clients to Reservoir’s Music Maestro system as well as entering new song and recording data for existing clients into Music Maestro
  • Tracking client’s live performances and set lists to submit to PROs
  • Importing registration Acknowledge files from PROs and isolate and report on any errored registrations
  • Assisting in contract analysis and counterclaim resolution processes.
  • Gaining a full knowledge of the relationship between publishers and writers and the different types of publishing deals

Intern Requirements: Copyright intern candidates must have experience using Microsoft Excel.  Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a music business, finance, accounting or related program.  A desire to work in the music industry, great attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take initiative are essential.  Attractive candidates will also be highly organized with great interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive on a small team.  Dependability, commitment, and professional demeanor are highly important.  Counterpoint Music Maestro knowledge a plus.

Position: Income Tracking Internship

Term: Spring 2022

Location: Remote/Tribeca, New York, NY

Placement Overview: The Income Tracking internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry. Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.

Income Tracking Responsibilities

  • Researching song publishing information using ASCAP, BMI, Spotify, Apple, Tik Tok and international societies
  • Researching upcoming releases and label information
  • Assisting in monthly and quarterly royalty runs and expense reporting
  • Becoming familiar with royalty tracking processes that includes tracking, coding, and updating monthly reports
  • Live performance research and registration in appropriate Performing Rights Organizations (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC)

Position: Royalties Internship

Term: Spring 2022

Location: Remote/Tribeca, New York, NY

Placement Overview: The Royalties internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry. Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship. The position will begin remotely until current restrictions are lifted and then transition to working in our NYC office.

Royalties Intern Rotation: Royalty interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Processing incoming royalties received from affiliated parties using Vistex Music Maestro
  • Becoming familiar with royalty terminology, processes and various reporting’s
  • Assisting with organizing and maintaining physical and digital statements received
  • Processing outgoing royalties due to writers using Vistex Music Maestro
  • Assisting in monthly and quarterly royalty runs and expense reporting
  • Client maintenance within Vistex Music Maestro

 Placement Overview: The Marketing internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry. Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship. The position will begin remotely until current restrictions are lifted and then transition to working in our NYC office.

 

Marketing Intern Rotation: Marketing Interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Assisting in producing content for company web properties, including drafting news stories, blog posts, social media posts
  • Researching and brainstorming new digital marketing platforms and tactics
  • Learning how to identify visibility opportunities for branding, partnership, and more in the music publishing space; assist in researching and assessing these opportunities
  • Assisting in press surveillance

 

Intern Requirements: Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a music business, communications, marketing, advertising, or related program.  A desire to work in the music industry, great attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take initiative are essential.  Exceptional writing skills required.  Job Title: Recorded Music Royalties Manager 

Leading independent music company Reservoir has an immediate job opening in the Recorded Music Royalties department. We are looking for candidates who are self-starters, tenacious, accurate and consistent in their work always, and understand the importance of clean data as it relates to master royalties 

Compensation:

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage overall recorded music royalty statement ingestion process into royalty system 
  • Directly handle the integration and companywide implementation of a brand-new royalty system 
  • Identify source of incoming payments and retrieve statements from corresponding portals/emails 
  • Maintain and update royalty tracking sheet on a consistent basis 
  • Assist with income statement mapping in internal royalty system, ensuring the use of proper products/asset titles, artist/producer royalty rates and deal terms 
  • Process mechanical royalties and facilitate payment delivery to publishers/royalty recipients 
  • Onboard and support artist & producer clients with portal access to retrieve their royalty statements 
  • Handle and execute royalty distributions for quarterly, and semi-annual payment periods 

Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3+ years of label experience in a royalty capacity 
  • Bachelor’s degree (music business or related field preferred) 
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with the ability to handle high volume of data-input with accurate execution 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Prior experience with royalty data processing systems (not required but preferred) 
  • Existing relationships with recorded music royalty vendors 
  • Technological understanding of recorded music royalty workflows, royalty components of recordings, and industry standards (DDEX) 
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook,) with strong Excel skills highly preferred 
  • Handles and safeguards highly confidential and sensitive or proprietary information

Title: Synchronization Licensing Manager 

Join the Licensing team in Reservoir‘s Los Angeles office.

How to Apply:

Responsibilities:

  • Issue synchronization agreements and invoices for the licensing department
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of all digital licensing documentation (correspondence, licenses, invoices, payments) for licensing projects
  • Coordinating with the royalty department to facilitate information on incoming synchronization payments
  • Maintain and update the status of licenses and payments within licensing database
  • Communicate effectively with the clearance team to make sure the relevant details for all deals are accurate
  • Send out invoices, W9, vendor forms to the licensees directly or the clearance companies
  • Monitor and pursue license fee collections. Process and log all incoming payments. Reconcile payments with weekly follow ups from royalty department.
  • Review daily income received emails to identify any payments received for licensed uses
  • Assist in monthly reconciliation of payments

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of administrative experience within the music industry in a licensing capacity.
  • General knowledge of music clearance and licensing concepts. Understands copyright concepts as they relate to musical recordings, compositions, artwork, etc.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook,) with strong Excel skills preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Join the Synch Creative team in Reservoir’s Los Angeles office. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, Synch & Marketing.

  • Pitch song/artist ideas to film and film trailers
  • Develop and manage relationships with artists and clients
  • Supervise and maintain physical and digital distribution/mailing lists
  • Secure placements of artist songs in film and trailers

  • Provide input from one’s working knowledge of available music delivery platforms
  • Create and update artist/label rosters

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in film/trailer synch creative pitching position
  • Capable of working independently and exhibiting initiative to tackle job tasks and assignments
  • Ability to multitask responsibilities quickly and precisely according to given deadlines and work within Synch Department team structure
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A passion for music and a well-developed knowledge of the music industry required
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Team player who can work with people across creative, marketing, financial, and legal disciplines
  • This is not a remote work position. When return to the workplace is deemed safe, this position will be based in our Reservoir LA office.
