Position Description: Artist Royalties Analyst
Location: Nashville, TN (On-Site)

The Position
Reservoir is looking for a meticulous and analytical Artist Royalties Analyst to join our Nashville team. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to process and analyze the royalties of our diverse and prestigious recorded music catalogs. Your work will ensure that the rights and earnings of the artists, producers, mixers, and samples uses are accurately represented and distributed, upholding Reservoir’s reputation for excellence and artist empowerment. It includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

    • Analyze, reconcile, and review royalty statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual agreements.
    • Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage large datasets, with an openness to learning and employing new technologies for data analysis.
    • Engage in royalty audits, identify trends, and provide insightful reports to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Work cross-functionally with our global offices to support Reservoir’s mission and uphold our standards of service and transparency.
    • Contribute to a dynamic team environment, embodying our guiding principles and fostering Reservoir’s culture of collaboration and innovation.

Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Music Business, Accounting, or a related field.
      • 2+ years of experience in royalty analysis or related fields within the music industry.
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on advanced Excel and Tableau Prep skills. Knowledge of royalty accounting software and data visualization tools is a plus.
      • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
      • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
      • A passion for music and a commitment to artist advocacy.

Position: Music Publishing Marketing Internship
Location: SoHo, New York, NY/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • The Music Publishing Marketing internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in person or hybrid (in person/remote).
  • Marketing Interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Assisting in producing and posting content for company web properties to promote Reservoir and its roster and catalog, including:
      • Drafting news stories, e-newsletters, and social media posts
      • Creating custom graphics and video assets
    • Researching and brainstorming new digital marketing platforms and tactics
    • Learning how to identify and conceptualize promotional opportunities in the music publishing space; assist in researching, assessing, and pitching for these opportunities
    • Assisting in press planning and surveillance

Intern Requirements:
Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a music business, communications, marketing, advertising, or related program. A desire to work in the music industry, great attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take initiative are essential.  Design skills and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva required; exceptional writing skills preferred. Position: Recorded Music Internship
Location: SoHo, New York, NY/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • Reservoir Media Management, Inc. is seeking a recorded music intern to help support the label marketing and digital operations teams. This internship will sit within the recorded music division of Reservoir Media, which includes Chrysalis Records (frontline and catalog), Tommy Boy Records, and more.
  • Reservoir’s Summer internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in-person or hybrid in-person/remote. Recorded Music Intern Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on consumer behavior, marketing trends, digital and social media developments and specific industry/client business to enhance sales probability
    • Assist with D2C website (release descriptions/social media links/gathering content)
    • Creating marketing materials, one sheets, custom graphics and video assets for promotional opps & social media
    • Support metadata quality assurance across recorded music catalogs within content management system
    • Conduct label copy and rights provenance research for legacy recordings as
    • Support the digital ops team regarding the delivery of recorded music catalogs to DSPs
    • Ad hoc projects as needed

Intern Requirements:
Recorded Music intern candidates must have a basic understanding of record label operations. Experience using Microsoft Excel is a plus. Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students concentrated in a music business or marketing degree. A desire to work in the music industry, great attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take initiative are essential. Position: Royalties Internship

  • Royalty interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Processing incoming royalties received from affiliated parties using Vistex Music Maestro
    • Becoming familiar with royalty terminology, processes, and various reporting’s
    • Assisting with organizing and maintaining physical and digital statements received
    • Processing outgoing royalties due to writers using Vistex Music Maestro
    • Assisting in monthly and quarterly royalty runs and expense reporting
    • Client maintenance within Vistex Music Maestro

Position: Licensing & Copyright Internship
Location: SoHo, New York, NY/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • The Licensing & Copyright internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in person or hybrid.
  • Licensing & Copyright Interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Researching songs, composers, and publishers in PRO/CMO databases and other online sources
    • Assisting in onboarding new clients to Reservoir’s system as well as entering new song and recording data for existing clients in Music Maestro
    • Importing registration acknowledgement files from PROs and isolate and report on any errored registrations
    • Claiming songs & associated recordings at various sources such as YouTube, TikTok, Meta, and Spotify Publishing Analytics
    • Reviewing different types of publishing agreements such as Admin vs CoPub
    • Helping track the use of Reservoir’s works on both licensed and unlicensed platforms
    • Processing registration certificates from the US Copyright Office
    • Generating mechanical licenses for use of Reservoir’s songs on CDs, vinyl, permanent download, etc.

Intern Requirements:

Position: Creative Publishing Internship
Location: Nashville, TN
Placement Overview:

  • The Creative Publishing internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • The position will be in person at Reservoir’s Nashville office, located at 3209 West End Ave.
  • Creative interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Typing out lyrics for new song turn-ins
    • Tagging new turn-ins for sync purposes
    • Learning how to navigate our chosen software, DISCO
    • Curating pitch lists to pitch songs to their supervisors
    • Updating weekly spreadsheets for new releases
    • Research concerning new signings, acquisitions, etc.

Intern Requirements:
Creative intern candidates must have experience using Microsoft Excel. Position: Synch Internship
Location: Los Angeles, CA/Remote
Placement Overview:

  • The Synch internship will provide meaningful and educational real-world experience within the scope of an independent music publishing company.  Reservoir’s objective in hosting all interns is to provide valuable preparation for a professional career in the entertainment industry.
  • Reservoir’s internship program is a maximum 12-week, part time, paid program and students may earn college credit upon completion of the internship.
  • Internships can take place either fully in person or hybrid (in person/remote).
  • Synch interns will rotate through the following areas, including, but not limited to:
    • Ingesting new releases on a weekly basis, procuring audio and uploading to the Reservoir DISCO
    • Working with the Digital Asset manager toward optimal organization of the Reservoir catalog audio at large in DISCO
    • Helping with setting up metadata spreadsheets to import into DISCO
    • Helping with ingestions of larger catalogs into DISCO / Dropbox

Intern Requirements:
Candidates must be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in a music business or related music industry program. A desire to work in the music industry, great attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to take initiative are essential. Exceptional writing skills preferred.
