RESERVOIR AND ONE RIOT ANNOUNCE PUBLISHING DEAL WITH SINGER-SONGWRITER ADIA VICTORIA
Date:
Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR) (“Reservoir” or the “Company”), an award-winning independent music company, today announced a new deal through its joint venture with One Riot to publish singer-songwriter Adia Victoria. The deal includes her 2021 hit album, A Southern Gothic, as well as future works.
Based in Nashville, Victoria describes her music as “gothic blues,” incorporating elements of rock, blues, country, and folk music. In August 2021, she released “Magnolia Blues,” the lead single off her third album, A Southern Gothic, which dropped in September 2021. Upon release, the album gained wide recognition and acclaim. Notably, in May 2022, Victoria earned nominations for two 2022 Americana Music Awards. The nominations recognize her burgeoning talent as Emerging Act of the Year, with A Southern Gothic also receiving a nod for Album of the Year.
In addition to these nominations, A Southern Gothic also landed on several year-end lists, including “Barack Obama’s Favorite Music of 2021” and NPR’s “50 Best Albums of 2021.” Furthermore, Rolling Stone praised the album as “stunning,” going on to describe it as “a brave record, an uncompromising, richly structured work that insists on asking questions rather than pretending to answer them.” Rolling Stone also dubbed Victoria a “leading musical voice in Nashville.” Earlier in 2022, Victoria toured with Jason Isbell, and this June she kicks off her own headlining tour across Europe, before returning to the U.S. for performances later this summer.
On the new deal, Victoria said, “It’s an honor to be partnered and creatively aligned with the wonderful teams at One Riot and Reservoir. Their strong collective sense of the publishing and synch worlds is a great fit for me, and I look forward to collaborating with their current artists as well as other new opportunities. I’m as pleased as a hog at a trough to be joining the One Riot family.”
One Riot Head of Creative Amy Patton added, “We couldn’t be more excited to be working with an incredibly prolific artist such as Adia Victoria. Her authenticity and skill cut through the noise, and we’re truly honored to be on her team.”
Reservoir EVP of Creative, John Ozier, also said, “Adia is an exciting artist on the rise, bringing a unique lens to music in Nashville. Her songwriting explores complex narratives all while introducing blues musical elements to listeners today. We look forward to supporting her and taking her songwriting to new heights.”
