MACKLEMORE RELEASES NEW ALBUM GEMINI, INCLUDING COLLABORATION WITH MIGOS’ OFFSET
Date:
Seattle rapper Macklemore dropped Gemini, his first solo album since 2005, today. His newest release is jam-packed with a slew of stars, including a feature from Offset of Migos.
The Atlanta native’s feature on the track “Willy Wonka” juggles verses between Macklemore and himself, as the two engaged in a fiery boasting competition. “I’m [an] icon, boots made of python/I met with the Prez and I’m in Obama’s iPod,” Macklemore says in the first verse. Offset then counters back with, “My wrist is a ‘fridgerator cause its cold/Pull up in the frog, I suppose,” making reference to his success as an artist.
Hosting 16 tracks in total, Macklemore takes less of a political stance with this album and, instead, is going on a more laid back route. “I think it’s mostly the music that I wanted to hear. I wanted it to be fun…everybody knows what’s going on,” Macklemore tells Rolling Stone. “I don’t need to go preach to the choir anymore.”
Offset is ending his summer on a high, as Migos was nominated for four of this years BET Hip-Hop Awards, as well as dropping new music video for Migos’ “Too Hotty” and earning a feature in London on Da Track’s single “No Flag,” last month.
