Biography

Stewart Copeland is an American musician and composer. He was the drummer for the rock band The Police. Beyond his time with The Police, Copeland has produced film and video game soundtracks, as well as written music for ballet, opera, and orchestra.

Copeland was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Police in 2003, the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013. In 2016, Copeland was ranked 10th on Rolling Stone‘s “100 Greatest Drummers of All Time.” 

Some of Copeland’s other band projects include supergroup’s Oysterhead (with Les Claypool and Trey Anastasio) and Gizmodrome (with Mark King, Vittorio Cosma and Adrian Belew).

Notable film scores composed by Copeland include: “Wall Street,” “See No Evil, Hear No Evil,” and “Highlander II: The Quickening,” among others.  He composed the music for the TV series “The Equalizer,” composed the music for the video game “Spyro the Dragon,” and remains an in-demand collaborator and composer.
