(NSAI). He received Song of the Year by the Academy of Country Music for the Judds’ career making single, “Why Not Me.” Maher’s bluesy, country songs became a signature sound for The Judds as he went on to write a string of hits, including “Girls Night Out,” “Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain” and many others. Other artists recording Maher’s songs include Tanya Tucker, Jo Dee Messina, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers, Shelby Lynne and more.
