CAMILA CABELLO RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “HAVANA,” CO-WRITTEN BY ALI TAMPOSI
Date:
At last, Camila Cabello released the music video for her smash single “Havana (feat. Young Thug),” co-written by Reservoir’s Ali Tamposi. The fiery cut, which dropped in August, tells the story of the singer falling in love with the wrong person and longing to reconnect with her Cuban roots.
The seven-minute music video acts as a mini-movie, as Cabello plays out multiple roles throughout. Opening with her as a Spanish soap opera star, the video then cuts to the real Cabello watching from her television at home. Her Abuela interrupts, telling her to go out and live her life, which leads to Cabello sneaking out to watch another telenovela at the movie theater, where she, too, plays the main role in the film.
In her final telenovela role, Cabello is seen dancing and strutting around a club. But as her love shows up in the scene, Cabello “chooses self-love over the boy,” as Billboard says.
The “Havana” collab, currently sitting at #26 on the Billboard Hot 100, #2 on the Official Singles Chart in the UK, and has recently reached 200 million streams on Spotify, as announced by Cabello via Instagram.
Ali Tamposi’s recent projects include Rita Ora’s new single “Anywhere,” Hailee Steinfeld and Alesso’s “Let Me Go (feat. Florida Georgia Line & Watt),” Avicii’s “Lonely Together (feat. Rita Ora),” and the RIAA platinum certified smash hit “It Ain’t Me” by Selena Gomez and Kygo.
