BILLBOARD NAMES RESERVOIR, BLUE RAINCOAT, & CHRYSALIS TEAM MEMBERS TO 2025 GLOBAL POWER PLAYERS LIST
Date:
Today, Billboard unveiled the 2025 Global Power Players (previously International Power Players) list, a list of executives with primary responsibility for markets outside the United States. Reservoir Founder & CEO Golnar Khosrowshahi, Reservoir Managing Director and Global Strategic Liaison Annette Barrett, PopArabia Founder/CEO and Reservoir EVP of International and Emerging Markets Spek, Blue Raincoat Music Co-Founder/CEO and Chrysalis Records CEO Jeremy Lascelles, and COO of Blue Raincoat Music and Chrysalis Records Alison Wenham were all named to the list.
As the CEO and Co-Founder of Blue Raincoat Music and CEO at Chrysalis Records, Lascelles has been involved across the music industry for decades, signing and developing recording artists like Laura Marling and Ben Harper, publishing clients like Self Esteem, and celebrating success with management clients like Phoebe Bridgers, Arlo Parks, Nova Twins and Cigarettes After Sex, among others.
In addition to her role as COO of Blue Raincoat Music and Chrysalis, Wenham has had a profound impact on the industry, previously co-founding and serving as Chair of the Association of Independent Music (AIM), which represents the UK’s independent music sector (making up a quarter of the recorded music market). She was also the founding CEO of the Worldwide Independent Network (WIN) and co-founder of the UK Women in Music Awards, in addition to playing instrumental roles in the creation of Impala, A2IM, WIN and Merlin, establishing a global independent presence.
At Reservoir, Barrett has long worked with noted songwriters like Nitin Sawhney, Jamie Hartman, and Pete Gordeno, as well as the Company’s international roster, including talent like Cutfather. Since 2020, Barrett has also served as President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Independent Music Publishers Forum (IMPF).
Since founding PopArabia in 2011, Spek has led the Company to become the leading music publisher in the Middle East & North Africa, representing an estimated 60% of global published repertoire through sub-publishing agreements with the likes of Reservoir, Sony Music Publishing, BMG Rights, Kobalt, Roundhill Music, and Concord, among others. Spek also oversees Reservoir’s newest subsidiary in Mumbai, India, PopIndia.
For the featured article, Khosrowshahi shared, “Reservoir’s work in emerging markets continues to be a key strategic element of our business.” She also cited a lack of transparency as an issue plaguing the industry today, saying, “We need greater transparency regarding generative AI to ensure concrete copyright protections that yield clarity around, permission for and compensation of [intellectual property] being used to train AI platforms. Second, we need continued greater transparency from DSPs on the royalties paid to publishers and songwriters so we can continue advocating to close the gaps in compensation across the publishing and recorded-music industries.”
