WATCHTHEDUCK DROP DEBUT ALBUM ‘DELAYED ADULTHOOD’
Date:
Artist-production team WatchTheDuck (Jesse Rankins and Eddie Smith III) dropped their long-awaited debut album Delayed Adulthood today via Interscope Records and Pharrell Williams’ label imprint i am OTHER. On making the thirteen track collection, WTD’s Jesse Rankins explains to AL “Our whole album is something we made directly for the plight we feel humanity is going through right now. I feel like we need love. And the only way to get people love is to give it. You can’t fix problems in your life if you don’t have some kind of love, because if you don’t have love you don’t have hope. Without hope, you don’t have any dreams.”
Delayed Adulthood includes lead single “There You Are”, a feel-good cut that the Alabama duo described as the best song they ever made, complete with a joyous and uplifting music video of officemates celebrating their colleague, played by Rankins. Adds, Pharrell, the pair’s sounds is “the future. It’s forward. So forward, that it doesn’t seem to experience the gravity of everyone’s present expectations of what black music could be – it’s beyond that.”
The album follows WTD’s previous projects, Anatidaephobia EP, which included the energetic single “Poppin’ Off” and The Trojan Horse EP, lead by viral tracks “Makin Luv To The Beat” feat. T.I. and DJ E-Feezy and “Stretch 2-3-4” feat. Pharrell Williams.
