TIMBERLAKE, MACKLEMORE, & PINK WIN AT VMAS
Date:
MTV’s first Barclays-based Video Music Awards ceremony took place last night, with nominees and other stars streaming into Brooklyn to take in the spectacle.
Winners of the evening included Reservoir-related talent Justin Timberlake (Video of the Year – “Mirrors”), Macklemore (with Ryan Lewis & Mary Lambert, Best Video With a Social Message – “Same Love”; and with Ryan Lewis & Ray Dalton, Best Hip-Hop Video – “Can’t Hold Us”), and Pink (with Nate Ruess, Best Collaboration – “Just Give Me A Reason”).
Performers ranging from Miley Cyrus to Kanye West wowed the crowd in the round, with highlights including a Justin Timberlake retrospective, complete with quick N*Sync reunion; a Robin Thicke/2 Chainz/Kendrick Lamar joint effort on Blurred Lines‘ remix of “Give It 2 U”; Drake showing off his seamless singing-to-rapping talents with a “Hold On, We’re Going On”/”Started From The Bottom” medley; and Kanye West’s powerful but notably understanded performance of “Blood On The Leaves” from Yeezus.
