RESERVOIR PRESIDENT GOLNAR KHOSROWSHAHI RUNS FOR NMPA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Date:
Reservoir President and Founder Golnar Khosrowshahi is among the industry executives running for the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) Board of Directors this year.
Golnar’s diverse business experience and unconventional path to music publishing poises her to offer a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. As Reservoir continues to grow as a global leader in independent music publishing, Golnar’s is a vital voice, with insight to issues affecting the international music marketplace, technology-driven licensing opportunities, and the involvement of women executives in our industry.
With over a decade of experience directing global advertising campaigns, Golnar founded Reservoir in 2007 under the umbrella of a family office with interests in pharmaceutical royalties, real estate, and consumer electronics retail. Reservoir began in New York City with a small, experienced team and a modest collection of long-standing hits. Today, having overseen signings and acquisitions of varied scale and genre, Golnar has grown the company to include over 75,000 titles, an extensive international sub-publishing network, and additional offices in Toronto and London, all the while honing her team’s analysis of the industry landscape to a science. She leads the group in assessing not only current music publishing opportunities but in following the flow of technology to identify new revenue streams for the benefit of rights holders.
In addition to her leadership of Reservoir, Golnar serves alongside world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma as President and Board Chair of Silkroad, a non-profit initiative dedicated to forging connections across cultures, disciplines, and generations. Her work at Silkroad extends from serving as a panel judge at Harvard’s Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge to overseeing a soon-to-be released documentary film about the genesis of Silkroad.
Golnar holds an MBA from Columbia University with a concentration in Media Management and Finance, and a BA from Bryn Mawr College in Political Science. She is a classically trained pianist through the Royal Academy of Music in London, England and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada.
The voting process for the 2015 NMPA Board officially commenced on Wednesday, May 13. The voting period will conclude on Wednesday, June 17 with the announcement of the elected directors.
