RESERVOIR AND ONE RIOT ANNOUNCE PUBLISHING DEAL WITH COUNTRY SINGER-SONGWRITER BRIT TAYLOR
Date:
Reservoir Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSVR) (“Reservoir” or the “Company”), an award-winning independent music company, today announced a new deal through its joint venture with One Riot to publish country singer-songwriter Brit Taylor. The deal includes Taylor’s entire catalog and future works.
Born and raised in Kentucky, Taylor broke through with her 2020 debut album Real Me, a self-reflective, 10-song LP that NPR World Café called a “beautiful mix of classic country [with] vintage singer/songwriter and some bluegrass thrown in.” Real Me debuted on the AMA/CDX Americana Radio Chart at #37, with the single “Back In The Fire,” debuting at #46 on the AMA/CDX Americana Top 50 singles chart. American Songwriter published a profile on Taylor and praised the album as a “stunner which lyrically showcases Taylor’s brutally honest feelings.” Taylor followed the album with Real Me (Deluxe) released in 2021.
Earlier this month, Taylor released “Cabin In The Woods,” the lead single off her upcoming album, Kentucky Blue. Both the single and the album are produced by Grammy Award-winning Americana legend Sturgill Simpson and renowned sound engineer David Ferguson. Wide Open Country described the country-bluegrass crossover track as a “foot-stomping” single, with Kentucky Country Music noting the song acts as a “personal invitation to [Taylor’s] cabin in the woods to enjoy a bourbon, a swing on the porch and a story-telling song.” In addition to her upcoming artist project, Taylor is making a name for herself as a go-to collaborator in Nashville, writing with some of country music’s most established and respected artists.
On the new deal, Taylor said, “It’s a rarity in this town for a publisher or anyone in the business to encourage complete authenticity. Instead, they try to turn an artist into whatever version of himself or herself that the industry thinks they should be. It is even more true when you are a female artist. One Riot & Reservoir encourage me to be me and to make decisions based on my heart and my gut. It’s so rewarding and fun to be able to focus on my own artistry, but it’s also fulfilling to break from it by putting on a different hat and writing for another artist.”
One Riot Head of Creative Amy Patton added, “Brit is such a unique talent and prolific writer, and she is also one of the hardest working people I know. The sky is the limit for what she can accomplish in her career, and we are thrilled to be on her team for the journey.”
Reservoir EVP of Creative, John Ozier, also said, “Brit is a rising star who has not only captured the attention of Country music fans, but some of the industry’s biggest names who recognize her immense talent. We look forward to welcoming her into the Reservoir and One Riot family and helping her continue to shine as both a songwriter and an artist.”
