When considering what rappers spit about most, a few tried-and-true topics are to be expected. Money, pride, hometowns, and of course, the ladies (though rarely characterized as such) pop up in hip-hop lyrics as often as 2 Chainz pops up as a guest feature.

Still, there’s something else that seems to have a special place in rap’s heart—or stomach. FOOD.

More often than we first realized, cuisine plays a starring role in hip-hop. See what we mean….

 

 

2 Chainz is hungry. For success, for the limelight, and apparently for a good meal. 2 many days on the road, perhaps? To wit:

“Wut We Doin” – Versace, cheese on my broccoli

“In Town” – You pass out, I come to / dipping’ it like fondu / Spinach dip, cheese stick

“Crack” – Extra garlic butter I got Benihana issues!

“Mercy” – Okay now ketchup to my campaign / Coup the color of mayonnaise

 

Granted, it’s unlikely that this line is actually about broccoli. Still, the visual is menu-ready.

“Adrenaline” – I chop rappers up like chicken Szechuan

 

E-40 treat their enemies like fast food. Not a bad way to go, we suppose.

“Tell Me When Yo Go” – Cross game, you get flipped like a burger patty.

 

We’ll bring the salsa!

Big Boi, “Shutterbugg” – They got flour for tortillas and lettuce for enchiladas
