Reservoir composer, producer, and recording artist Nitin Sawhney has been recognized on this year’s Queen’s New Year’s Honours List. For his service to music, Sawhney was appointed CBE, Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, an order of chivalry that rewards contributions to the arts and sciences, along with civil and public service. A New Year’s Day tradition dating back almost 130 years, the awards are currently presented by Queen Elizabeth II and published in the London Gazette.
