NEW YEARS DAY REVIEWED IN ‘THE NEW YORK TIMES’
Date:
The rockers in California-based band New Years Day have spent the last several weeks criss-crossing the U.S. with pop-punk’s traveling Mecca, the Vans Warped Tour. It was only a matter of time, then, before major heads began to turn, and sure enough, cultural giant The New York Times has taken notice.
Reviewer Jon Carimanica includes New Years Day’s Victim to Villain in his Playlist column dated August 2. Alongside chart climber French Montana and his latest, Excuse My French, Carimanica heralds New Years Day as a “tougher, more flamboyant” take on the band Paramore. He credits the album’s “biting verses”, “soaring choruses”, and Ash Costello’s “gum snapping” voice for a collection that packs a punch.
