LUCY ROSE RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘FLORAL DRESSES’ FEATURING THE STAVES
Date:
British singer-songwriter Lucy Rose has released her new single, “Floral Dresses”, her first new material since 2015’s Work It Out. The cut, which features English folk rock trio, The Staves, premiered yesterday via Steve Lamacq’s BBC Radio 6 show. Clash Music praises the song’s “sparse arrangement [which] allows each note to ring true,” adding, “the whole package is very heavenly indeed.” The accompanying music video, also released today, shows Rose performing the song at a bar open mic.
Rose says that “Floral Dresses” is one of the most honest songs she’s ever written, revealing, “When I wrote Floral Dresses it really reminded me about who I was, and I always think that some of the best songs are the ones which can stand on their own with just one instrument. The message is pretty clear and I hope other people will find comfort in it, and realise they are different but also the same as many people.”
This has been a big week for Rose, who signed with Communion Records and also released the trailer for a mini-documentary she shot last year during her DIY Latin American tour. In addition, Rose announced that she will be performing at this year’s Longitude Festival and Latitude Festival alongside Mumford and Sons and Jack Garrett.
