LUCY ROSE PREMIERES ‘NEBRASKA’ MUSIC VIDEO STARRING DANNY DYER
Date:
British singer and songwriter Lucy Rose premiered the new music video for her single “Nebraska” today via The Independent. The video portrays popular British actor Danny Dyer, traditionally known for his masculine roles, struggling with his identity as he transforms himself into a drag queen. The scenes echo Rose’s lyrics, which set out to “find who [she] really [is]”.
Dyer told The Independent, “I think it’s such a moving piece of work. I’m beyond proud to be part of it, I’ve always believed that people should be who they wanna be regardless of race or gender. Freedom of expression is so important.”
Lucy Rose further explains the meaning behind the song and video noting the constraints of society and the music industry. She adds, “The video to me isn’t about Danny being a drag queen, but a freedom of expression and a form of escapism. I’m sure there’s many things we all want to do but we are worried that it means we won’t fit in. Let everyone be who they want and don’t make them justify their choices.”
Directed by Christopher McGill, the video also features cameos from musicians Ghostpoet , Rae Morris, and Josef Salvat.
