ECHOSMITH DROPS NEW EP WITH SONG “LESSONS” CO-WRITTEN BY PHIL BENTLEY
Date:
Echosmith released its seven-song Inside a Dream EP, including “Lessons” co-written by Phil Bentley, today. The undeniably catchy instrumental and upbeat lyrics about the excitements of new love combine to form perfect radio track, while exemplifying the group’s new sense of maturity for their upcoming sophomore album.
“Lessons” is a track about finding love for the first time and simultaneously being unsure of how it’s all supposed to feel. The cut draws inspiration from famed 80s hits, including The Police’s “Every Breath You Take,” Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Games,” and the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams,” taking cues from the classic love songs while set to an infectious melody.
“The new music sticks to the band’s catchy pop pastiche while highlighting a shiny layer of dance-ability,” Variety says. “The sugary [sounds of the EP belong] on the radio, ready for kids to roll down their windows and sing along to on the road.”
