DAYA RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM ‘SIT STILL, LOOK PRETTY’
One week after Daya’s hit single “Sit Still, Look Pretty” was officially certified Platinum by the RIAA, the indie darling releases her full-length debut album. The fourteen-track collection shares its title with the girl-power anthem, co-written with Reservoir writer Mike Campbell. Campbell recently spoke to lyric annotation site Genius to share insight into the song’s creation, revealing that pop powerhouses P!nk and Aqua were inspirations behind the cut.
Hollywood Life notes that SSLP continues to build upon the title track’s anthem of independence as Daya redefines what it means to be a pop princess, adding that “the album proves that Daya can both create songs you want to dance around your room to, but also feel empowered at the same time — and that’s what’s going to get her up with the Britneys and the Selenas.”
Listeners are clearly on board with the message—“Sit Still, Look Pretty” recently entered U.S. Pop Radio Airplay Chart’s Top 10, clocking in at #9 this week, in addition to cracking the Top 25 at Hot Adult Contemporary radio. Meanwhile, the song’s official music video has been viewed nearly four million times.
