DAN HENIG RELEASES ACOUSTIC HIP-HOP COVERS ON ITUNES
Date:
Singer-songwriter Dan Henig loves a good surprise. After all, it was his ambush coffee-shop acoustic performance of Lil Jon’s raunchy party track “Get Low” that first turned heads late last year; the video of the unexpected cover gained upwards of 2 million views, with blogs from Funny Or Die to the U.K.’s Sample Face picking up the funny footage.
Earlier this year, Henig struck again with an impromptu performance of Ludacris’ “Move Bitch.” This video, whose highlight might be the gang of twenty-somethings who recognize Henig’s cover and enthusiastically sing along in the streets, went viral as well, stimulating viral buzz from social news outlets like Reddit and music industry trades like NME alike.
In his latest unexpected treat for fans, Henig has made both of his now-signature hip-hop covers available on iTunes. The songs and their artwork, reminiscent of 2 Chainz’ famously simplistic Based On A T.R.U. Story album cover, are a humorous departure from Dan’s more serious ventures as a recording artist, which include a six-song promotional EP showcasing Henig’s raspy, soulful voice and airy, melodic brand of rock (think: John Mayer), also available for download.
