BIG K.R.I.T. DROPS ‘4 EVA IS A MIGHTY LONG TIME,’ FEATURING RESERVOIR CUT “KEEP THE DEVIL OFF”
Date:
Big K.R.I.T. is ending 2017 on a high, releasing his new album, 4 Eva Is A Mighty Long Time, today. Marking as Big K.R.I.T.’s third studio album, the 22-track release includes Reservoir cut “Keep The Devil Off” on the second disc, which features a sample of Philly Groove Records’ “Laugh To Keep From Crying,” written by Joseph Jefferson.
The soulful and gospel infused track is backed by a choir, as the fast-paced rapper says, “I was born on the south side of the moon/ Country boy did this big from the bottom of the map/ To the top of the mountain, pimpin’ I’m on the move.” Inspired by his southern roots, Big K.R.I.T.’s quick lyrics exemplify his willingness to look past the hedonistic lifestyle that often comes with fame, and instead focus on the positive things.
Hot New Hip Hop praises “Keep The Devil Off,” stating, “K.R.I.T. masterfully employs gospel soundscapes in order to accentuate his uplifting message, and while there is some use of Christian imagery (chiefly, the idea of The Devil), you don’t have to be religious to ride with this one.”
