BEYONCÉ AND JAY-Z DROP NEW ALBUM ‘EVERYTHING IS LOVE’ FEATURING THREE RESERVOIR CUTS
Date:
Teaming up for their first-ever joint album, Beyoncé and JAY-Z, AKA The Carters, released their new collaborative project Everything Is Love, via surprise-drop this weekend. The nine-track album opens with “Summer,” a reggae-inspired cut that serves to set the tone to the record’s romantic themes, co-written by Reservoir’s James Fauntleroy. The New York Timessays “Summer” is a song that celebrates “sensuality and durable love” invoking a “plush, retro-flavored soul.” The album’s first single “Apes**t” featuring Migos’ Offset is a hard-hitting trap cut that is abrasive and braggadocios. The Atlantic says “Apes**t” “drives with intensity… echoing the cadence of recent hits and chasing currency.” The Carters shut down the Louvre museum in Paris to shoot the stunning visual for the track, which features the pair galivanting among some of the world’s most famous art. Finally, track “713,” features an interpolation of the hook from Dr. Dre’s classic hip hop track “Still D.R.E.” produced by Scott Storch.
