AMY GRANT & TORI KELLY REMAKE ‘BABY BABY’ ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CUT’S RELEASE
Date:
90s pop artist Amy Grant recently teamed up with Grammy nominated recording artist Tori Kelly to re-record Grant’s 1991 classic “Baby Baby” on the 25th anniversary of the song’s release. “Baby Baby” earned Grant three Grammy nominations and soared to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart upon its initial release, and her original vocals are paired with Kelly’s in the 2016 revamp of the Reservoir catalog cut.
In a behind-the-scenes piece, the two singer-songwriters discuss the song’s original inspiration, as Grant reveals the song was born out of a case of writer’s block, six weeks after giving birth to her daughter. Of the new collaboration with Kelly, Grant tells People, “My hope is that those who loved the original will enjoy the breath of fresh air that Tori puts into the song and that perhaps the song will find a brand new audience of younger listeners who weren’t even born when the original was on the radio.”
