ALEX HEPBURN DROPS SOPHOMORE ALBUM ‘THING’S I’VE SEEN’
Date:
British singer-songwriter Alex Hepburn released her anticipated sophomore album Thing’s I’ve Seen, today via Warner Music France. The 15-track album features singles “Take Home To Mama” and “I Believe,” as well as a deeply personal and stunning collaboration with X-Factor’s Season 9 winner James Arthur titled “Burn Me Alive,” written about her sister’s suicide. She also collaborated with Reservoir’s Craigie Dodds, alongside other notable hitmakers.
Lead single off the album, “Take Home To Mama,” was featured as the lead track on Amazon Music’s ‘Introducing…’ playlist of “outstanding songs by artists you’ll wanna know,” in addition to immediately landing a spot on the Top 50 Global Pop DRT chart upon its release. Hepburn depicted the song’s theme as one of “not conforming to your mother-in-law’s high expectations for her son and not caring about what people think of you.”
Furthermore, Earmilk called single “I Believe,” co-produced by Craigie Dodds “a rousing feminist anthem” that shows off her “smooth, soul-drenched vocals and her free-spirited approach to songwriting.” Regarding the cut, Hepburn emphasized, “I put my heart and my soul into making my music as authentic and as true to me as possible. Unfortunately, I’ve lived through a lot of shit. I have a lot of baggage, but you have to find the positive in the situation you are in. My record and my words are always from the heart and I’m very, very proud of this record.”
Thing’s I’ve Seen follows up her 2018 EP If You Stay, along with Alex’s collaboration with Matrix & Futurebound on “Live Another Day.”
