SLAKAH’S SM2 AMONG EXCLAIM!’S TOP 2014 ALBUMS
Date:
Trend-spotting Canadian music magazine Exclaim! published its roundup of the year’s best albums, where it counts Slakah the Beatchild‘s Soul Movement Vol. 2 among its Top 10 Soul and R&B Albums of 2014.
Exclaim! first praised Soul Movement Vol. 2, which marries elements of R&B, funk, contemporary jazz, and hip-hop, following its first-quarter release. Without skipping a beat, the magazine raved about everything from Slakah’s exceptional production chops to his evermore focused songwriting style. Given the publication’s impassioned reception of the album, it’s only fitting that it now regards SM2 among other buzzed-about 2014 albums like FKA Twigs’ LP1 and Tinashe’s Aquarius.
Soul Movement Vols. 1 and 2 remain available for download. Slakah continues to work out of Toronto, collaborating with a range of artists and spearheading the Madhus Café, where his team hosts musicians from the city’s rich arts scene.
