Reservoir Undone
Date:
Acoustic. The word brings to mind stripped, intimate performances, featuring piano, perhaps guitar, and a vocal part or two. So why do we find them so thrilling?
Acoustic performances are always a treat, because they offer the listener the rare chance to take in a song the way it was most likely written, as just a few chords and melodies without the added flair of the mixing, editing, and effects that, in fairness, have their place in making a song amazing. Stripping away it all showcases a song’s root structure in a way that fully produced music often can’t. With the added room, artists have the opportunity to showcase the emotion or story behind the composition on a whole new level, giving us a better understanding of the song’s message and a deeper appreciation of an artist’s musical skill.
Take a listen to acoustic versions of some of the hits from the Reservoir catalog and hear the difference for yourself.
