RESERVOIR SIGNS ‘ME, MYSELF & I’ WRITER LAUREN CHRISTY
Date:
NEW YORK, August 2, 2016—As reported in Billboard, seven-time Grammy nominee and celebrated singer-songwriter-producer Lauren Christy has joined the Reservoir roster. A founding member of the writing-production trio The Matrix, Christy is one of only six women ever to be nominated in the Grammys’ Producer of the Year category.
Christy, whose credits include Top 40 favorites like Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and Enrique Iglesias’ “Tonight (I’m Lovin’ You)”, has a current hit in G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha’s “Me, Myself & I”, which landed at #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs chart at the top of the year and has since been certified Platinum. Christy is also behind this year’s “Team”, the Teen Choice Award-nominated lead single from Iggy Azalea’s forthcoming sophomore album; and “Stand In The Light”, The Voice Season 9 winner Jordan Smith’s debut release.
The British-born Christy began her career as a solo recording artist in the 1980s. After releasing her own music throughout the early and mid-‘90s, she co-founded the songwriting-production team The Matrix with partners Graham Edwards and Scott Spock in 1999. The trio went on to pen titles for David Bowie, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and a host of other international stars. Between her own recordings, projects with The Matrix, and independent songwriting credits, Christy’s work has amounted to recognition from the American Music Awards, Golden Globes, Ivor Novello Awards, Juno Awards, and BMI’s Songwriter of the Year Award, in addition to the Grammys.
Reservoir’s Los Angeles-based Senior Vice President of Creative and A&R Donna Caseine signed Christy to the roster, Caseine’s first signing since joining the company in June. Having worked together before, Caseine notes that Christy’s diverse pop résumé aligns with her and the company’s passion for working with versatile talent.
“Lauren Christy is a songwriting powerhouse, delivering hit after hit and transcending all genres,” Caseine says. “Her presence on the Reservoir roster will open yet another door for the kinds of creative musical partnerships that excite our team.”
Christy says of the new relationship, “Songwriting is a collaborative art in more ways than one. I can’t think of a better group of individuals to make music with than Reservoir.”
