RESERVOIR SIGNS HIP-HOP PRODUCER XL TO A WORLDWIDE PUBLISHING DEAL
Date:
Reservoir announces the signing of Hip-Hop producer Trevon Campbell, pka XL to a worldwide publishing deal. The deal includes XL’s entire catalog including, 2x Platinum hit “T-Shirt” performed by award-winning rap group Migos, and future works.
“One of the main reasons I chose to partner with Reservoir is their professionalism and hands-on support from experienced music industry vets including Faith Newman and Donna Caseine,” said XL. “I’m excited, ready for what the future holds, and happy to be a part of the Reservoir family.”
The 21-year-old Georgia native’s music is best described as a mixture of melodic tunes with a Southern vibe and a touch of 808. His first hit, “You,” a collaboration with R&B Singer Oshea, was a breakout hit on Pandora, racking up over 16 million streams. He has collaborated with a host of top talent across multiple genres including Future, Li Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Young Dolph, K Camp, Zaytoven, DJ Spinz, and Beat Billionaire. In addition, XL has received national recognition from his collaborative YouTube show Trench Cook Up, where he shows the process of building a beat from start to finish with with his “T-Shirt” co-producers Nard and B. Earlier this month, the trio, collectively known as Trenchwerk, were profiled by Spotify in an exclusive video on the platform’s Rap Caviar original video series, taking fans in the studio for a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the 2x Platinum hit. Most recently, XL produced “Space” performed by TK Kravitz featuring Sexton, which has been steadily on the rise at U.S. Rhythmic radio since it’s debut in June.
“XL has such a fresh and unique sound and I knew I wanted to work with him when I first heard ‘T-Shirt,’” says Reservoir SVP of A&R and Catalog Development Faith Newman. “He’s another great talent to come out of the Atlanta music scene, alongside Reservoir writers 2 Chainz and Migos’ Offset and Takeoff. I foresee big things happening for him and I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with next.”
