RESERVOIR, CHRYSALIS & DE LA SOUL TAKE HOME BRONZE 2025 CLIO AWARD
Date:
Reservoir and Chrysalis took home a Bronze 2025 Clio Award for Music Marketing – Integrated Campaign for the promotion and release of the 35th anniversary edition of De La Soul‘s impactful debut album 3 Feet High and Rising.
Following the success of a campaign to bring De La Soul’s entire back catalog to digital streaming platforms for the first time ever in 2023, the team led the charge on continuing to celebrate the iconic hip-hop trio’s impact on the genre with an anniversary edition of 3 Feet High and Rising released on March 1, 2024. Originally released on March 3, 1989, 3 Feet High and Rising reached #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, was certified Platinum by the RIAA, and is consistently placed on lists of the greatest albums of all time by critics and noted publications. 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul’s subsequent eight albums firmly cemented the trio in music history as one of the most influential hip-hop groups of all time.
The 35th anniversary edition included all original tracks, as well as a selection of bonus tracks: the previously digitally unreleased “Freedom Of Speak (We Got Three Minutes),” “Ain’t Hip to be Labelled a Hippie,” “What’s More,” “Jenifa Taught Me (12” Version),” and two original demos from DJ Maseo’s basement “Plug Tunin’ (Home Demo)” and “Freedom Of Speak (We Got Three Minutes) (Home Demo).” All tracks were remastered in Stereo and Atmos. Alongside exclusive physical and merch offerings, the Reservoir and Chryslais teams worked with De La Soul to bring an integrated campaign to life. De La Soul hosted a Talk Shop Live chat on February 27, 2024, where Posdnuos and Maseo live streamed with fans and offered exclusive signed album inserts. On March 3, 2024, dubbed “De La Day” and timed to the original release date of 3 Feet High and Rising in 1989, the group celebrated their journey and the impact of their music with an in-store signing at Rough Trade Records in New York City. Additionally, De La Soul performed live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert during the week of March 4.
