RESERVOIR ADDS ACCOMPLISHED WRITERS ESTHERO, MIKE CAMPBELL, & JULIAN NIXON TO ITS ROSTER
Date:
Reservoir is pleased to begin 2016 with a trio of exciting new signings, including deals with multi-genre writer-performer Esthero, pop writer-producer Mike Campbell, and urban pop and hip-hop producer Julian Nixon. Reservoir will represent each writer globally as they pursue new opportunities in their respective spaces in partnership with the company’s international Creative team. SVP of Creative and A&R, Spek, played a key role in adding each writer to the Reservoir roster over the latter half of 2015.
Writer and artist Esthero is known for her distinct voice and track record of successful cross-genre collaborations. Her near-twenty-year catalog includes works featured on Kanye West’s 808s & Heartbreak (including its massively popular lead single, “Love Lockdown”), Timbaland’s Shock Value II, Nelly Furtado’s Whoa Nelly!, and several others, in addition to her own albums and singles. Reservoir’s agreement with Esthero includes her 2012 release, Everything is Expensive, as well as future works.
Songwriter, producer, and musician Mike Campbell first saw success with the triumph of 2015 Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy-winning single, “Say Something”, the 5x Platinum ballad performed by indie-pop duo A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. Campbell’s deal will see Reservoir represent “Say Something” in addition to his future compositions, including the track “Sit Still Look Pretty” by rising indie artist Daya.
As one half of the production duo Best Kept Secret, Julian Nixon has worked with celebrated artists across several genres, including Wale, Mark Ronson, Robin Thicke, and Tinashe. Best Kept Secret’s Dr. Dre-performed song “Darkside” appears on the album and movie soundtrack Compton, nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. Nixon’s deal will see Reservoir represent the writer’s existing catalog and future titles.
Spek notes, “I’m looking forward to seeing Esthero spread her wings as a songwriter of compelling gems for her peers. Mike Campbell has really earned his stripes as someone with the ability to craft enduring pop songs that people respond to around the world, and Julian’s versatility as a jack-of-all-trades has put him in the room with some of the most impressive names in urban music. Our team couldn’t be more excited to build on each writer’s strengths and help them discover new ones.”
Reservoir COO Rell Lafargue adds, “We have once again elevated Reservoir’s creative brand with three fantastic additions to our active contemporary writer roster, now over thirty songwriters strong. We welcome Esthero, Mike, and Julian to the Reservoir family, and we look forward to pursuing each and every opportunity to create excellent music and enjoy new levels of success together.”
