NITIN SAWHNEY RELEASES ‘DYSTOPIAN DREAM’
Date:
Reservoir multi-instrumentalist and composer Nitin Sawhney releases his tenth studio album Dystopian Dream today. Among its many influences and idiosyncrasies, the album’s sounds range from swaggering blues-rock, as evidenced by lead single “When I’m Gone”, to haunting, rhythmic trip-hop in cuts like “Scape” and “Days R Gone”. The UK’s UncutMagazine exclaims, “Dystopian Dream epitomizes what Sawhney does best – writing culturally eclectic and atmospheric songs and inviting a smartly selected array of singers to give voice to his socially conscious lyrics.” In addition to its mix of sonic origins, the album’s extensive list of guest vocalists includes Joss Stone, Stealth, Eva Stone, Akala, Natacha Atlas, J’Danna, and Bernhard Schimpelsberger.
Sawhney recently performed select tracks from Dystopian Dream on BBC Radio Scotland’s The Quay Sessions with Edith Bowman. Up next is a six-city UK tour in support of the album which kicks off on November 15, and continuing work on the score for Warner Bros.’ Jungle Book: Origins, directed by Andy Serkis, due in 2017.
