'STEP UP REVOLUTION' IN THEATERS FEATURING M.I.A.’S “BAD GIRLS”

'STEP UP REVOLUTION' IN THEATERS FEATURING M.I.A.’S “BAD GIRLS”

7/27/2012

Step Up Revolution, the latest installment in the international Step Up dance movie franchise, is in United States theaters today.  Like the previous films, Step Up Revolution follows a crew of energetic young dancers, this time banding together to create dance flash mobs representing the fight for a local cause.  The Hollywood Reporter writes that the choreography featured in the movie “delivers effectively,” while The Chicago Tribune goes as far as to say that Step Up Revolution is the most amusing installment of the series to date.

R&B/hip-hop/Middle Eastern-fusion hit “Bad Girls,” produced by Reservoir writer-producer Danja and performed by M.I.A., is among the songs featured in Step Up Revolution. “Bad Girls” has been a buzz track since its January release, with Billboard first citing it as “hypnotic,” and television shows 90210 and Gossip Girl picking it up for use in their series’ episodes.  The corresponding music video has been heralded as a piece of “real swagger” (Huffington Post), “incredibly original” (So Many MP3s), and a “lady gangsta fantasy” (The Los Angeles Times).  “Bad Girls” appears alongside twelve other rhythmic tracks on the Step Up Revolution soundtrack.
