Slakah the Beatchild and partner Kendra have taken the concert venue aspect of the music industry into their own hands with the recent opening of their Madhüs Cafe. The Toronto-based arts cafe is located on 982 Kingston Rd, and will serve as an intimate outlet for local acts as well as Slakah himself to perform for fans. The cafe has racked up dozens of five-star reviews from customers, with one reviewer referring to it as her "new favorite coffee shop in all of Toronto." To get a feel for the cafe's atmosphere, check out Slakah's on-site acoustic performance of the Reservoir catalog track "Things I Do (For Her)" below:

Over the past few years, Slakah the Beatchild has consistently proven to possess a diverse musical skill-set, capable of everything from synth-heavy R&B hits like M.O's "On Ya" - a previous BBC 1Xtra "Single of the Week" referenced in this week's Music Week magazine - to hip-hop jams like his own "Philly Beat." Referred to by Drake as "one of my favorite producers I've ever worked with," Slakah is a decorated multi-instrumentalist sought out by collaborators seeking to create intimate, visceral musical moments. Slakah's next LP, Soul Movement Vol 2, is expected for release exactly one month from now, on the 28th of March. It's currently available for pre-order on Bandcamp here. Check out the retro, psychedelic video for "Byram Groove," featured on SMV2, below:
