A-HA RELEASES NEW UNPLUGGED ALBUM SUMMER SOLSTICE

10/6/2017

Norwegian trio, A-Ha, released their album MTV Unplugged – Summer Solstice, today, allowing fans to feel the intimate atmosphere of these live concerts on their own time. The 15-track album is the first time in the band’s 35-year history that they have recorded an acoustic album. The collection of songs includes a portion of carefully selected signature hits, such as “Summer Moved On (feat. Alison Moyet)” and “Lifelines,” as well as songs that have not often been performed and two brand new releases.

The MTV Unplugged concert was filmed and recorded on the small Norwegian Island of Giske at Ocean Sound Recording Studio, a location that the group selected because it holds a special meaning to them. Four guest stars feature on the album, including Echo & The Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch as he sings his own song “The Killing Moon” with the group.

Pål Waaktaar-Savvoy, of A-Ha, told Universal, “We’ve talked about this idea for so many years. And in many of our concerts we’ve also played some acoustic songs. But if you consider that we don’t use much technology at all when we write the songs, the idea of an entirely acoustic show makes total sense. Playing all these songs now in their acoustic versions is like returning to their origins.”
