SONG & DANCE: RESERVOIR’S TOP 5 DANCING WITH THE STARS MOMENTS

9/18/2017

ABC’s Dancing With The Stars waltzes into their 25th season premiere tonight at 8/7c, and we’re more excited than ever to see the troupe bust out their dancing shoes. This season, the cast of dancers counts teen pop idols Debbie Gibson and Nick Lachey, athletes Terrell Owens, Nikki Bella, and Derek Fisher, and TV personalities Vanessa Lachey, and Drew Scott among its cast of Mirrorball-winning hopefuls. In anticipation of this evening’s milestone season premiere, we’re counting down our top five favorite musical moments of the celebrated reality dance competition show.

1. “Burnin’ Up (feat. 2 Chainz)” – Jessie J

Better grab yourself a class of water for this performance! Simone Biles, America’s sweetheart of the 2016 Summer Olympics, lit up the dance floor with partner Sasha Farber as the pair danced the Cha Cha to Jessie J’s fiery number “Burnin’ Up (feat. 2 Chainz).” The R&B-inspired collaboration with Reservoir’s 2 Chainz is an uptempo love song that uses fire as a metaphor for lust. Showing off Biles’s gymnastics moves, Farber was sure to include these next level tricks to get the crowd to their feet. The smoldering routine no doubt deserved a gold medal after that performance!

2. “Pony” – Ginuwine

Carlos PenaVega channeled his inner Magic Mike as he and partner Witney Carson paid tribute to the dance number made famous by Channing Tatum. Stripping down to just a pair of sweatpants, PenaVega and Carson dancing the Rumba to Reservoir cut “Pony” swept the audience, and the judges, off their feet, earning themselves the highest score of the night. It was surely a performance to remember.

3. “Let Me Love You” – DJ Snake

An ode to a girl who seems to ready to walk away, reality TV star Nick Viall showed personality and energy in his first dance number with his partner, Peta Murgatroyd, as the pair danced the Cha Cha to “Let Me Love You,” co-written by Reservoir’s Ali Tamposi. The duo stated off the season strong, surprising everyone who watched as it was clear of their chemistry and potential.

4. “Candy Shop” – 50 CENT

Former MLB Cubs catcher David Ross and Lindsay Arnold hit a homerun with a jazz dance, clearly inspired by Magic Mike, to 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” co-written by Reservoir’s Scott Storch last season. The classic club song about getting hot and heavy was a perfect match for Ross hitting the dance floor in tear-away pants and t-shirt with abs painted on it, making a confident impression on audience members and the judges as the pair scored one of the highest of the night.

5. “Day-O (Banana Boat Song)” – Harry Belafonte

DAAAY-O! Partners Terra Jole, reality TV personality of Little Women: LA, and Sasha Farber stole the show with a theatrical performance paying tribute to the classic 80s movie Beetlejuice. The playful pair danced the Cha Cha to Reservoir catalog cut Harry Belafonte’s “Day-O (Banana Boat Song)” and found the balance between weird, cute, and memorable for the Halloween themed dance night.
