'SHARE A COKE AND A SONG' CAMPAIGN FEATURES RESERVOIR LYRICS

4/19/2016

Coca-Cola began rolling out their 'Share A Coke and A Song’ nationwide campaign today, which will see the lyrics for more than 70 popular songs, ranging from recent chart toppers to classic hits, featured on packages of Coca-Cola products. Included in the campaign are five Reservoir cuts: Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do”, Conrad Sewell’s “Beautiful Life” co-written by Jamie Hartman, Jess Glynne’s “Hold My Hand” co-written with Ina Wroldsen, Jimmy Wayne’s “I Love You This Much”, and John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High”.

Of the song selection, Coke’s Global Head of Music Joe Belliotti explained, “We wanted to use the lyrics that connect people, and create those moments of sharing.” He further detailed the factors that brought the campaign together, stating, "It was a great collaboration with the publishers, and it was a true collaboration because there is no business model for what we are trying to do.” Racquel Harris Mason, Coca-Cola North America’s VP for Coca-Cola and Coke Zero, added, "we found incredibly collaborative partners in the music industry that enabled us to bring this to life."

The campaign is also a collaboration with popular music discovery app Shazam. Consumers will be able to tag their bottles to activate additional interactive features like creating and recording lip-sync videos with special filters to share on social media. Additionally, select participating artists and songwriters will have the opportunity to share stories about their songs through activations on television, radio, online, and live events.
