STEREOTYPE.FM LETS YOU JUDGE MUSIC FANS (AS IF YOU DIDN'T ALREADY)

3/1/2013

We were tickled when Tastebuds.fm, a dating website based entirely on its users' musical tastes, launched back in 2010.  The site allows users to type in their listening preferences to instantly pull up musical soulmates--or taste buds.  Brilliant, we thought!

Things got taken to a whole other level when we discovered the website’s recent launch of a new and quirkier project, Stereotype.fm. Stereotype uses the musical preference data from its parent site, Tastebuds, to churn out stereotypical superlatives of popular artists' fans. For example, lovers of a certain act might be “most likely to have multiple tattoos,” “most likely to believe the moon landings were faked,” or “most likely to be drunk right now."

For fun, we looked up some Reservoir-related talent to see what their fans are most likely to be. Here’s what we found:

Beyoncé fans are likely to have many tattoos (really?)

  • - Users who listen to 2 Chainz are likely to be PC users
  • - Fans of Tim McGraw are likely to believe they’ve seen a ghost before

  • Check out Stereotype.fm for yourself and see what you're most likely to be!
