DANJA PRODUCES ON WIZ KHALIFA’S ‘O.N.I.F.C.’
Date:
O.N.I.F.C., the twice pushed-back new album from Wiz Khalifa, was released yesterday at long last. Nate “Danja” Hills, the recently-profiled Reservoir songwriter and producer, leant his talents to one of the album’s most melodious tracks, “Medicated.”
“I was going somewhere totally different when I got in the studio with [Danja],” Wiz explained in a recent interview (video below). “But when he sat down to make that beat, I think he had something in mind [about] where he wanted to take me, and we completely went there!”
“Medicated” features Chevy Woods, a rapper from Wiz’s hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia, who most recently made waves with his chart topping single and Reservoir catalog hit, “Bandz A Make Her Dance.”
Rolling Stone magazine calls O.N.I.F.C. a “solid” release, while XXL comments that this is Wiz’s “strongest material” and Idolator confirms that with its “gauzy, lethargic beats, with slowed-down G-funk riffs and bloops that seem to be coming from melted video game cartridges,” O.N.I.F.C. is “unequivocally a success.”
