BET AWARD WINNERS INCLUDE RESERVOIR CATALOG CROONERS
Date:
The thirteenth annual BET Awards ceremony aired Sunday, honoring this year’s greatest artists, songs, videos, actors, athletes, and personalities in black entertainment.
Performers found in Reservoir’s extensive rap and hip-hop catalog swept plenty of nominations and awards on this memorable night.
With the single “Right Now” riding XXL Magazine’s XXL Freshmen Mixtape, New Orleans based R&B singer August Alsina took the award for Best New Artist. And hip-hop group Young Money, first known for their 2009 hit “Bedrock”, proved how they’ve stayed on the scene with a win the award for the Best Group.
A-list female artists show no sign of forfeiting their BET crowns, either. Over ten years after the release of her debut solo album Dangerously In Love, which boasted hit singles “Baby Boy”, Beyoncé continues to be a major influence in the industry, as evidenced by her win as the Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Meanwhile, with several hits under her belt, including the staple “Beez In The Trap” with Reservoir rapper 2 Chainz, Nicki Minaj took the award of Best Female Hip Hop Artist.
Other artists with hits in the Reservoir catalog, like Rihanna, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, rounded out the nominations for the night.
